Kleinrötz

This KGA with two ditches and three palisades had four entrances. The elevated horizon has forced us to abandon solar calendrical or stellar orientation. The field is rather flat, and heavy agricultural use may have shifted the aspect (slope direction) somewhat, making the relationship between entrances and terrain slope somewhat less clear than at other sites. Still, the field generally slopes towards north-west, and an orientation pattern towards this general direction can be seen in the cross pattern formed by the four entrances.

The north-western entrance can also be associated with a “Minor Lunar Standstill”, this would however have been a singular occurence in our group of monuments.
